Maciej Cieśla is an emerging Polish artist whose work has been featured in exhibitions, awards, publications and collections across the country. His style combines Leo-Fauvism, abstract geometric form and symbolism. He achieves a striking artistic signature characterised by bold colours, confident strokes and intriguing motifs. A central theme is the relationship between man and woman: the complexity, irony and beauty.

Polish painter Maciej Cieśla has developed his distinctive style by reinterpreting traditional styles such as Leo Fauvism and combining them with abstract geometric forms and symbolism. In 2013, the artist, born in 1988, graduated in painting and sculpture from the Academy of Arts in Wroclaw under the guidance of Piotr Błażejewski.
Maciej Cieśla spent two years searching for a personal, unique style and the optimal working tools for him to realise his artistic expression. His reinterpretation of traditional styles results in colourful, figurative paintings. The free use of abstract and geometric forms allows Cieśla to explore a wide variety of themes in his oil paintings.
One of the main themes of Cieśla's works is the relationship between women and men. Numerous mythological, symbolic or folkloric features attributed to women or men can be discovered in his paintings. Cieśla approaches the sometimes stereotypically devilish characters and the difficult relationship between women and men with an ironic approach. Thus, female characters in his paintings can be shady figures, while the male demons are seduced by their beauty time and again.
Maciej Cieśla is visibly successful in his home country of Poland and has presented his works in several solo exhibitions, including in 2013 at the Gravity Gallery in Warsaw or in 2017 at the DNA Gallery in Wroclaw.
