About the artist

Acrymx is the artistic pseudonym of award-winning French artist Michael Monney, who has exhibited his work nationally and internationally. Free from all thought and protocol, Acrymx's macro-photographic approach focuses on image-making as well as perception through a concentration on material and light. This technique allows him to create subject and colour palettes that provide the key elements for creating his photographic or scanographic compositions. His images are abstract, geometric and lyrical.

ACRYMX is essentially interested in abstraction, be it geometric or lyrical, in the sensitivity that playing with shapes and colours can exert on people. These various abstractions (the movements or artistic schools of the 20th century) are well established in painting and sculpture, but are still emerging in contemporary photography, although photography revolutionised the world of painting as soon as it appeared, taking the lead in representing reality. So, with the help of computer tools, Acrymx tries to paint differently what the macro has already transfigured, and he pushes into abstraction with the desire to achieve a result close to drawing or painting. Pixels and digital collages are his colours and his words. "As a mixed media artist, there are no limits for me: Every element of everyday life or digital worlds is as much a tool as a support for me"
